Unique Wedding Dresses Styles / Ideas You Need to Know

Trending Wedding Dress Styles: While 2018’s Bridal Fashion Weeks may well be behind us, we cannot stop talking about the wedding dresses that debuted on the runways. From inspiring and surprising collections from the likes of Viktor & Rolf and Vera Wang, to the elegant silhouettes of Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta, this year’s theme was decidedly feminine, unique and jaw-droppingly gorgeous. From body-hugging shapes to sky-high slits, there were plenty of romantic twists for brides who want to feel feminine and sexy on their big day. Here is a sneak preview of 2018’s wedding gowns which are sure to please any budding bride.

Return of the Princess

Perennial favourite Marchesa showcased dresses with incredible attention to detail featuring plenty of adornment, subtle sequins and embroidered lace flower. The designers’ timeless and sophisticated bridal gowns were lavish and captivating – we saw dramatic skirts, lots of beading and lace, and timeless silhouettes just perfect for the bride who wants a fairy-tale wedding. Our personal favourite was gown six from their Bridal Notte collection. What woman could resist such undeniably beautiful lacework? We know we couldn’t.

Delightfully Feminine

Bows – lots and lots of bows! We saw this dainty embellishment as a delightful finishing touch to the striking gowns at Amsale. Our favourite of the collection? The Lia gown for its clean simplicity and luxurious fullness. Bows also arrived completely oversized on the gowns at Carolina Herrera, namely the Gertrude dress, and at Viktor&Rolf on many dresses including the dramatic Ribbon Bow Back Gown.

As one of the most prolific wedding dress designers, Vera Wang offered something for every modern bride. In her latest collection, Wang introduced corset detailing. Her Frederique dress does an amazing job of accentuating the smallest part of a woman’s body. We also saw dreamy and romantic skirts on the gowns Aurore and Maude, and classically elegant dresses with ribbon streamers and crystal embellishments.

Black Details

Is black really the new white? It seems it could be as we saw plenty of this sophisticated colour by way of bows and feathers for a seriously edgy statement look. At Kelly Faetanini, wedding gowns were bold and strong, with each designed as individual pieces of art. The designer’s Macbeth dress is the perfect example of a powerful, statement-making gown for brides who dare to be different.

Modern Minimalism

Refined and sophisticated to enhance a bride’s natural beauty, Viktor&Rolf’s minimalist look dresses embodied freshness and modernity while also pushing the boundaries. Their design innovation comes in the form of detail, from structured hearts shaped out of textured fabric on their Petite Love Cloud Gown to their Embellished Iced Flower Peplum Gown. With Viktor&Rolf, you have dresses that are as impeccable as much as they are fashion-forward.

It is no denying that a wedding dress makes every woman feel beautiful. From v-necklines to embellished bodices and larger-than-life trains, 2018 is all about making a bride look and feel glamorous on her special day. If you are celebrating your wedding next year, take a cue from these designers who truly understand what a bride wants from her gown and be ready to have all eyes on you.
